Case study

New employees productive before day one

Human resourcesInternal systemLiberia

Client & context

An operation in Liberia bringing new employees onto site, where arriving staff previously spent their first days filling in forms rather than working.

Client named on request during a call. Permission to publish has not been sought.

The problem

Information was captured on arrival, which meant errors were discovered late and corrected slowly.

Documents arrived incomplete or unverified, and verification happened after the employee was already onsite.

Induction could only begin once someone had physically arrived.

What we built

  • Information capture with validation applied at the point of entry.
  • Document upload with a verification workflow.
  • Pre-onboarding inductions completed before arrival on site.

Technical approach

Validation was pushed to the earliest possible point, so bad data is rejected at entry rather than found weeks later.

Induction content was moved ahead of arrival, which turns the first day on site into a working day.

Results

  • Employee data is validated from the start rather than corrected afterwards.
  • Documents are verified before arrival, not after.
  • Inductions are complete before day one.

Technologies

  • Custom web application
  • Document upload and verification
  • Validation rules engine
